Sarah Bing

Pottery Wheel at the Raglan Summer Arts School 2021 will be tutored by Sarah Bing, a Raglan potter who has been working from her home studio on the wheel for the last 7 years. She creates both functional pottery and sculptural pieces, using the pottery wheel.

Sarah is obsessed with clay and all its myriad possibilities. She will be covering the main decorative sgraffito technique she has become so well known for during her pottery classes.

Thanks to everyone who has signed up for Sarah’s amazing program.

Sorry everyone else, the places are filled.

The Pottery Wheel
with Sarah Bing

This 4 day intensive is for beginners or those who want to advance their basic throwing skills to pull through to the next level.

We’ll be learning to wedge, throw on the pottery wheel, trim and decorate our raw clay vessels.

All work will then be fired and glazed for you and returned in a few weeks time.

While we’ll focus on mastering the basic forms – the cylinder (for mugs), bowls and plates – we’ll also talk about and work through using thrown forms to sculpt with, plus adding attachments and handles etc.

Dates: Thur 21–Sun 24 Jan 2021
